Immediate Response
Keeping in mind the immediate needs of the community rescue teams were sent to the badly affected areas. The affected areas had water as high as fourteen feet where several people were stuck on the roofs of their homes.
Rescue teams with the help of boats reached far-off areas and brought them to safer areas. Faced with the acute shortage of drinking water, the rescue teams immediately arranged for 2000 mineral water bottles to provide relief.
Relief Activities
In the second step, the following activities were undertaken with the help of local community.
– Distribution of 450 tents
– Distribution of crockery 200 bags
– Distribution of 1100 Ration bags of 20 KG each with rice, flour, sugar and other basic food items.
– Distribution of 600 KG meat in 5-7 kg bags
– Distribution of 300 blankets
Housing Project
As part of the long term development of flood affected communities, a housing project was undertaken where 25 houses are being built in the first phase. The project was undertaken in the small village of KotMurad.
These houses were gifted to the effected people after thorough investigation and identification of the affected families.
On June 15th2015, in a ceremony where DCO – Jhang District was also present the houses were handed over to their owners.
